The Nine Elements of Effective Brand Journalism

7) Seeing Is Believing

At Red Barn Media Group, we believe face-to-face visits by the writer yield the best stories, especially for features. While it’s not always possible to make such visits, the sense of place and understanding of the source acquired is worth the effort. Remember, while there, take your time to get to know your subject, and so they can get to know and feel comfortable opening up to you. And as it pays off for the story line, a visit by the writer also helps formulate a shot list for the photographer, helping to align the words, pictures, and underlying marketing message.
